Creating the mirror asset

Creating the mirror effect in Maya is harder than I imagined. tried to download several shader networks, but couldnt figure out how to set them up, ive came up with a pretty easy way on how to simulate reflections using mia_material_x. using fresnel reflections to 1 and diffuse colour to black and reflections at 1 it works quite well, just need to fill the scene up, so there is something for the material to reflect.

Bird Model

I Have not posted on here for a while so i figured it was time for a few updates.

This is the bird model's earliest screenshot. Still need to texture the eyes and work on the parachute a little, also the IK system doesn't quite fluently work for the wings.

Autodesk's Free Product Library for Students

http://students.autodesk.com/?nd=download_center

If your a student and don't already know, Autodesk offers free versions of almost all it's software to students studying in the UK.

Really helpful and saves us all torrenting the shit out of Maya.

https://www.facebook.com/NICODIMATTIA.illustration

If i can recommend one person to everyone who visits this page it would be this guy.

Nico Di Mattia.

I first discovered Nico a few years ago as I became engrossed in the art of digital painting. What better way to really allow this medium to entice me was by watching people do it. Speed painting is generally a video showing a time-lapse from the start to finish of painting. I couldn't believe my eyes as photo realistic results were born in front of me.

I have followed Nico for a long time and even purchased his Art Book which I treasure in the second drawer of my bed side table. ;)

Paynee's Blog: Mass Defect

A wacky yet extremely creative nutter from work linked me this. After opening it I thought ahh, another one of Dane's game related videos.

Upon further inspection and a few good laughs I began to look past its intentional meaning and begun breaking it down. Although extremely basic and highly over-exaggerated the fan made short boasts some extremely key strengths in it's animation. I soon realised what I was watching was merely a video storyboard, keying out some outrageous but simultaneously well crafted stunts.
